There was some good news coming from the credit unions of Fermoy and Mitchelstown this week following the takeover of the Newbridge Credit Union by Permanent TSB. Customers, the members and owners of both establishments, were assured that both credit unions are in a healthy position and will continue to serve their members well as they have done successfully for many years now.

These are difficult times for practicully every kind of business and with surplus funds almost impossible to come by, saving for many is a near impossibility. However, those who can, should continue to save something, however small each week - something that will stand them in good stead if an when they need to apply for a loan. Children too should be encouraged to make 'putting away' part of their regular routine and with saving schemes in many schools now, it should make the task all the easier.

Credit unions all over the country have been the helping hand to many and will hopefull continue that trend into the future.
