Illegal dumping mars scenic spot

The problem of illegal dumping has persisted and even risen during the Covid-19 crisis. As recently as this week, The Avondhu received evidence of domestic waste strewn across the entrance of a woodland walk near Cappagh Cross.

The area is about mid-way between Rathcormac and Ballyhooly. A local activist who came across the site described it as a ‘disgrace in this climate’.

The individual went on to state that Fermoy and the surrounding areas are well-serviced by waste providers, and that this situation, of illegal dumping, should not continue. 

“The area is a lovely wooded one, with some very nice nature walks, and then to see something like this at the entrance? …”
