Limerick County Council is investigating illegal dumping at the Tipperary Road in Kilfinane.
A large oven, timber and plastic along with other items were dumped at the site last week and were subsequently collected and disposed of by council staff, who will search the rubbish for evidence of ownership.
Kilfinane Community Council chairman Tommy O’Sullivan, said that the issue of illegal dumping in Kilfinane has improved in recent years.
“Seeing this latest case isn’t nice, but it’s a small problem – not a big problem. There is always work to be done but it’s not a major issue here. People generally are using recycling plants to dispose of their rubbish and it’s important to keep getting the message out there."
The sad part of all this is, as Tommy explained, the majority of the items dumped here could have been brought to Kilmallock recycling centre and disposed of free of charge.
