Councillors have attacked the IDA who they said, have left the former Fermoy Army Barracks site idle now for 18 years. 

The issue was raised by Cllr Noel McCarthy at the Fermoy Municipal District meeting on Tuesday. 

He requested an update from the IDA regarding the future of the site on the Dublin Road and asked that they consider selling the property on the private market. 

“It beggars belief that this is still not dealt with. The army left there in 1998, the IDA took it over in 2002. It is a fantastic location, just a quarter of a mile from the motorway.
