Volkswagen’s ID.3 has had a great start since it went on sale in Ireland and has been the top-selling model in September and October, and now it has claimed its first Irish critics award – voted the Sunday Service Car of the Year 2020.

Irish YouTube show “The Sunday Service”, presented by Bob Flavin is a live 2-hour online motoring programme that attracts 5,000 viewers per week, on a channel with almost 60,000 subscribers.

Chosen from more than 40 cars, the show’s presenter Bob Flavin outlined why the ID.3 was the winner.

“The competition was very tight, but the Volkswagen ID.3 has made the move to electric cars an easy one. The ID.3 is first and foremost a good car, but also manages to be an exciting electric offering in the market,” said Flavin.

“The package that Volkswagen are offering to the public shows a real sense of understanding of what a future owner needs to make the transition to EVs.”

Commenting on the win, Volkswagen Ireland Brand Director Rodolfo Calixto said: “This is a great acknowledgement of the initial success of the ID.3 in Ireland and we know that Irish customers are heartily embracing this new technology.

“With new versions of the ID.3 and of course, the arrival of the ID.4 early next year the ID. range will be central to our plans in 2021 and beyond.”
