Singer-songwriter Jake Carter said he is looking forward to taking to the Palace Theatre in Fermoy with his band this weekend, as a part of his upcoming tour.

According to the musician, this will be his first time properly gigging in Fermoy with a full band.

“I was in Fermoy not so long ago when I was a judge at the All-Ireland Secondary Schools Drama Final. That was actually my first time in the theatre there and I got talking to Kieran Barry (manager at Fermoy Community Youth Centre) about what a lovely theatre they have there. I got such a warm welcome the first time that I wanted to come back again,” he said.

When asked how local venues such as the Palace in Fermoy compare to some of the bigger stages, such as that of the Olympia where he starred as Aladdin in the panto, he said it could be more ‘daunting’.

“It’s probably a little more daunting. But it’s a lovely venue, and I love that as well because you really feel like you’re in with the crowd. The reason I’m doing it in the Palace Theatre in Fermoy is because it’s such a lovely theatre …” Jake added.
