Huge crowds descended on Mitchelstown on Friday ahead of the INDIE19 Music Festival.
Glorious sunshine welcomed those traveling to the hugely anticipated event as Mitchelstown prepared for 15,000 visitors.
Traffic was at a standstill in the town for most of the morning and a fantastic atmosphere was developing as visitors gathered in the square and along the busy streets.
Some decided to abandon their buses and cars, deciding that the quickest way to get to the Deerpark grounds was on foot, eager to set up their tents, set down all the necessary paraphernalia for the weekend and make their way back into town to soak up the buzz and excitement.
Paul McGee who travelled all the way from the Inishowen Peninsula in County Donegal, told The Avondhu that he couldn’t wait for INDIE19 to ‘get into gear’.
“I just can’t wait for it to get going. This is the best INDIE line-up ever and it’s going to be some craic”

“Getting settled in is always the biggest headache. Everyone wants the best camp site close to all the action. I’ve been coming for five years and it’s always the same but once you get in and get set up you can relax and stroll into town.”
