Cork County Council have said they would support Cllr Noel McCarthy’s request to place two taxi set-down spaces on Terence McSwiney Place in Fermoy, which is adjacent to Patrick Street, opposite AIB where there are already two taxi spaces.

The next step is to get written approval from Fermoy Business Association and then the request can be put through the normal statutory process.

Speaking at the Fermoy Municipal District meeting in December, Cllr McCarthy thanked Cork County Council for their support and agreed to talk to the businesses.

“It’s becoming a problem with a shortage of taxi spaces in Fermoy and especially now that the taxi office in MacCurtain Street has closed, at least people will know there are taxis available at that spot,” said Cllr McCarthy.
