High spirits in Ballylanders Pattern Day, in spite of poor weather

While Mother Nature tried her hardest to put a damper on all things festive in Ballylanders, locals turned out in numbers to support the ever-popular Pattern Day celebrations.

The rain failed to dampen the high spirits at this year's Pattern Day in Ballylanders as people of all ages enjoyed the market, entertainment and music throughout the day and into the evening.

There was plenty for the smaller children to do with face painting, a kids playtime bus, a mini farm, music and other games. The country market was as popular as always, with a mix of local produce, hot food and drinks, crafts, toys and little gifts.

Numerous families came along to make the most of the family fun day from 2pm until 5pm, while many others who were working during the day didn't miss out, as there was music from The Voice of Ireland winner, Keith Hanley, while the Drive to Survive crew were also welcomed home.

DRIVE AWARENESS

Over the course of seven days, Dan Gallahue along with volunteers from Ballylanders, Anglesboro and further afield, drove from Anglesboro in County Limerick across Ireland, in order to raise awareness of the Drive to Survive campaign, while raising funds for hospices around the country. In every area they visited, the funds gathered went towards the hospice in that area and the trip helped to raise the profile of the campaign, which was set up in memory of the late John Gallahue.
