There was a strong turnout at the Presentation Pastoral Centre in Doneraile on Thursday evening last, as the community gathered to bid farewell to Helen Sheehan who retired from Canon Sheehan Primary School after 31 years of teaching.
Mass was celebrated and a number of presentations were made to Mrs Sheehan, who was joined on the evening by family, past and present staff at the school and past and present pupils.
Helen taught in Doneraile at the CBS prior to the amalgamation of the schools, as well as at Canon Sheehan Primary School post amalgamation, at Gaelscoil de hÍde in Fermoy and in Buttevant.
Her vast contribution to the legacy of education and the lives of local children was acknowledged by Fr Aidan Crowley during the Mass.
