They've passed the halfway point at Ballyduff Festival 2013 and the good news is there's still some really top class entertainment lined up from here until late on Sunday night.
It's been a busy week for everyone associated with the festival and things got off to a great start with last Friday night's pub talent competition in The Log Cabin where the very talented, Ciara Power, was a popular winner.
Saturday evening saw Beat 102-103 visit Ballyduff Community Field to help kick off several hours of novelty games for all age groups. There was also a barbecue and the on-field action continued until dusk.
A fun run, walk and cycle, in addition to a well supported car treasure hunt, comprised the programme for Sunday.
Tonight (Thursday 15th August)
Those with an interest in Ballyduff's past are invited to a historical talk which gets underway from St Michael's Church at 6.30pm. In the community field there's an U10 camogie match at 7.30pm followed by a ladies football game at 8pm.
Dancing to Crystal Swing
The Crystal Swing dance in St Michael's Hall has generated a lot of interest for Friday night. Firmly established as one of the country's top dance bands, this hardworking family trio always give 100% when they take to the stage. Derek's 'Hucklebuck', Mary's 'He Drinks Tequila' and Dervla's interpretation of classic country and Irish songs is always well received. Doors open at 10pm and those paying in have access to a full bar - admission just €10. Further inquires to 087-6693702.
Loose Cannons on Saturday
A slightly different clientele are expected on Saturday night when Loose Cannons perform in St Michael's Hall. It has a later starting time than the night before with proceedings getting underway at 11.45pm. A lively night/morning awaits, strictly over 18s, ID may be requested by the door staff - full bar,  admission €10.
Daytime festival entertainment includes: talk and fishing demonstration on River Blackwater by Glenda Powell starting at 10am followed by riverside picnic (€15 all in), limited spaces available, contact 087-6693702 without delay. Fancy dress that evening at 7.30pm - always a great spectacle.
Sunday is Gala Day
The forecast is reasonably good for Sunday and an activity-laden day of events is laid on in the community field with plenty to keep the various age groups amused. The country market, pony rides, wheel of fortune, dog show, water games, art competition, the presence of Mickey Mouse and his girlfriend/wife Minnie plus lots of exotic creatures from Araglin Wildlife Sanctuary are just some of the attractions. Weather permitting, a hot air balloon will fly over Ballyduff village.
Closing Dance on Sunday
The final act of the festival is the closing night dance in St. Michael's Hall - dancing to Mike Rourke from 11pm till late.
