After a wonderfully successful opening night in Conna on Sunday, the local dramatic society there are back on stage this weekend from Friday to Sunday inclusive with their two very entertaining one-act plays at 8.15pm nightly.

It was great to see some new young faces on stage in the Brendan Hurley-directed ‘Why I Am A Bachelor’. The audience reacted very positively to them with some great comic moments about lecturer who happens to be a bachelor and who gets some of his students to act out the pros and cons of married life with some amusing and perplexing results.

The second play on the bill is ‘A Little Box of Oblivion’ by Stephen Bean. Co-directed by Anne Barry and Niamh McAuley, it has a cast 5 that includes Ann Gough, Ronan Bennett, Helen Bennet, Kevin Hayes and newcomer to the group, Mary O’Connor. Figuring out what exactly is in a box left by a stranger, was the kernel of a this interesting piece.

Looking forward to seeing you in Conna Hall over the weekend!
