Great running – thanks to everyone

F.A.C.E. (Fermoy Action Children’s Education) thank all the members and volunteers who participated in the Cork City full marathon, half marathon and relay teams.

Dear Editor,

On behalf of all the F.A.C.E. (Fermoy Action Children’s Education) committee, parents and children, we would like to thank all the members and volunteers who participated in the Cork City full marathon, half marathon and relay teams.

These were, as follows: Full marathon – Colleen Whelan, Peadar Lucey, Michael Clancy; Half marathon – Patrick des White; Relay teams as follows: Team A Helen Dinan 1st leg, Mariska Smit 2nd, 3rd leg (ran on to do 4th and 5th legs – total 21 miles), Laura Flynn 4th leg (ran on to do 5th leg, total 10 miles) and Tom Flynn 5th leg. Team B – Claire Dennigan 1st leg, Gina Stan 2nd, 3rd leg, Mag Flynn 4th leg (ran on to do 5th leg, total 10 miles) and Olga Smyth 5th leg. Team C Sean Curtin 1st leg, Angela O’Mahony 2nd, 3rd leg (ran on to do 4th leg, total 19 miles), Annette Cahill 4th leg (ran on to do 5th leg, total 10 miles) and Patrick O’Leary 5th leg.

We would also like to give a mention to people who intended on participating but could not due to sickness or injury, Willie White, Darragh Wiley and Martina O’Driscoll, but were still a part of our team. We would like to give a special mention to Gerard O’Sullivan, freelance photographer from Mitchelstown who accompanied us on each leg – he took some fabulous photos. We would just like to thank Ger most sincerely.

We would like to thank all the public and people who pledged money towards our fundraiser and a small number of our members who collected money on our behalf. A big well done to everyone who participated and completed the marathon.

Also, Liam Barry of Fermoy Print and Design for his top class job on the sponsorship cards. We would also like to give a special mention to our treasurer, Pat Canning who accompanied us on the day and was there to support us across the finish line.

We would also like to thank Phil Cohen and staff of Academy Crests Ltd, Blackpool Cork for a magnificent job on the t-shirts and signets. Thank to Sylvia Flynn, Valerie McCormack and staff of FITTstop Personal Training for their kind generosity in sponsoring T-shirts and singlets.

Finally, thanks to John Ahern and all at The Avondhu for their help in promoting our fundraiser.
