A great night of ring playing was had at the legendary Finbarr Grindel's Bar on Sunday night for the ring tournament final. Room was scarce on the night but everyone got to see the games even looking over someone’s shoulder or standing on someone's toe, it was a night of great ring throwing.

We had two finals on the night. We had the final for the Paddy Duggan Cup and the plate. Over the years we have had some great ring players in Ballyhooly like the late Paddy Duggan, Jim Goggins and Christy O’Keeffe and his nephew, John O’Keeffe, who were all tournament winners over the years and sadly have gone to their eternal reward.

This year's tournament was a great success and organiser Liam Dineen did a great job in getting the games organised as did referee, Pat Tobin, in keeping the score and making sure no one had their toe over the line. This year's ring tournament saw some great ring playing, with all of the previous winners knocked out along the way, and left in the final were two great ring players, Margaret Tobin and Seamie Roche. Both gave an outstanding display of ring throwing on the night with Seamie Roche winning the tournament and taking home the Paddy Duggan Cup.

Finbarr O’Connell was winner of the plate when he defeated Kevin O’Driscoll in the final. Well done to all the players for the great night - looking forward to next year.
