Fermoy’s all-round sporting legend Raymond Ennis, has been announced as the grand marshal for this year’s Fermoy St Patrick’s Day Parade.

He will follow in the footsteps of other Fermoy people awarded the honour, who in recent years included Christy Kennedy, Jim Lysaght, Denis Rice, Owen O’Keefe, Sister Nuala, Michael Jordan and Mick Dolan.

Mr Ennis is described by the Fermoy St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee as 'an extraordinary sportsman who was involved in GAA, golf, squash, handball, soccer and pitch & putt at a high level for many years'.

In his early days, Raymond won several North Cork medals in both hurling and football, played in four North Cork minor football finals and played for Cork in minor football.
