The 3-day 'Campa Gaeilge' held in Scoil Mhuire National School, Glenroe recently proved to be an outstanding success. Those who enrolled really enjoyed themselves and of course the brilliantly fine weather was another bonus. Each day was better than the last and youngsters looked forward to turning up each morning.

Overseen by Michael Dennehy, the aim of 'Campa Gaeilge' was to promote the Irish language in a non-classroom environment. The atmosphere at the 'Campa' was informal throughout and the fact that there was no homework went down a treat. According to Mr Dennehy the 'Campa Gaeilge' experience was all about interaction, teamwork and enjoyment. He went on to say that he was delighted with reaction to this 'camp with a difference'.

In an age of the iPhone and tablet it was great to see the páistí trying their hand at old favourites such as the egg and spoon race and the three legged race. Children dined out of doors and plenty of drinks were to hand. In between games, drama, music, quizzes and sporting activities children relaxed under the shade a giant sycamore tree - surrounded by friends and with plenty to keep them occupied Glenroe's 'Campa Gaeilge' was a summer highlight for all concerned.
