Cork County Council have granted planning permission to Glanworth GAA for the redevelopment of their existing clubhouse and the construction of a hurling wall.

Conditional approval was granted by the Planning Authority last month, and the club say they expect the project to be completed early in the new year.

Glanworth GAA were among the recipients of the 2015 Sports Capital Programme, receiving €39,000. In total, over €4.5 million was allocated to create new and improve existing sporting facilities across the county.

Club secretary Liam Brennan said the project includes the construction of a community gym and a hurling wall adjacent to the dressing rooms.

The project, he said, will go to tender in the coming weeks and the estimated completion date is early 2017.

Cork County Council, in granting permission for the work, stipulate in the conditions that ‘there shall be no use of the hurling wall outside the hours of 8am and 9pm’ in the interest of amenity.
