The first steps for a streetscape plan for Glanworth were taken on Monday evening, as residents gathered in the Community Hall to brainstorm ideas for the village.

Led by Niall Walsh of the Avondhu Blackwater Partnership, locals put their heads together to think of what they’d like to see done with funding allocated under the Village Enhancement Scheme (VES).

€28,250 has been allocated for streetscape works for the village; this budget includes plans for Glenville and Killavullen too. Mr Walsh acknowledged that the budget wasn’t huge, but that it represented ‘a start’ for a project that could be later built on.

Furthermore, he indicated to the group that the Tomar Trust has a ‘huge amount of interest’ in supporting Glanworth. LEADER funding was also discussed to address repairs on the roof of the hall.
