Kildorrery GAA Festival Committee say Thank You

The annual Kilbehenny Potato Festival is fast approaching, with August 13-18 the dates pencilled in this year to coincide with The Gathering celebrations. Weekly meetings are currently under way to make plans for the festival, with the following some of the events planned to date: an American tea party, children's fancy dress parade, a village evening (American wake), genealogy workshop, gala day, duck derby, street entertainment, monster bingo, etc.
DRIVE TO SURVIVE
The community are also organising events for the Drive to Survive fundraiser. A 45 card game will be held in Dan Casey's Bar this Friday evening at 8.30pm sharp, while the Three Counties Bar are holding another 45 card game on July 26th at 8.30pm sharp.
The children’s Irish dancing group have also already raised funds for the Drive to Survive campaign. If anybody would like to give a donation or organise an event, contact Moss Fitzgerald or any member of the committee.
AOIBHE'S HAIR
Eight year old Aoibhe Mullins is set to donate her ponytail to the Rapunzel Foundation. The idea first came about when Aoibhe came home one evening asking if she could dye her hair pink for Shave or Dye. Her mother Biddy was hesitant to allow Aoibhe to dye her hair but it sparked an idea in Biddy’s mind.
“There is one thing you can do,” said Biddy. She then explained to Aoibhe that she could donate her hair to the Rapunzal Foundation. Aoibhe's hair would then be used to make wigs for children suffering from cancer.
On a visit to Limerick a short while later, Aoibhe saw the wonderful work the Rapunzel Foundation are doing and then Aoibhe was sure she would donate her hair. “Now I really want to do it,” Aoibhe said to her mam.
Although the date for the event of cutting Aoibhe’s hair is not finalised yet, the event will be on within the coming months and sponsorship cards will be available soon.
“I’m very proud of her for doing what she’s doing,” Biddy told The Avondhu.
