The newest business to open its doors on Lower Cork Street in Mitchelstown is the unmissable bright red façade of the Carry Out Off-licence.
Owner Colm Moran, who hails from Clarina, Co. Limerick, is enthusiastic about being the proprietor of a successful franchise.
Working alongside Colm are locals Ann Walsh and Rachel O’Grady, who are available to guide customers through their range of international beers, wines, whiskeys and European vodkas and wines.
Colm spoke to The Avondhu about what the shop will offer to locals.
“Personally, I have a big interest in Irish whiskeys, so down the line we’ll be doing whiskey tasting nights, and I’m here to help advise people for a special present, or a retirement gift.
“We’re completely customer-orientated, and have already taken orders on request. I’ve been asked for a lot of Polish, Czech and other Eastern European products, like flavoured vodkas – a taste of home no matter where you’re from!”
The home bar trend hasn’t gone away, and Colm has a supply of kegs in-store to keep the home bar topped up – and as an emergency measure for any local pubs that might run short all of a sudden! Guinness, Heineken and Coors are available as standard, and others can be ordered in on request.
November is, of course, a time to plan for the Christmas parties ahead, and what’s more, Black Friday on 26th November will bring its own deals to the shop.
“We have a designated cocktail section, and will have equipment that anyone will need to make their own at home. For Christmas, I’m delighted to say we’ll be doing hampers on request. So, for example, if someone was a fan of gin, I’ll put a basket together that I know they’ll like. We also have ready-made gift-sets for sale.”
The non-alcoholic range includes beers, cider and wine, with non-alcoholic gin soon to be added to the range.
All-important sustenance is also available, with a range of crisps and snacks in-store. Cheers!
