Glenbrohane Gala Weekend still going strong at 30 years
“Oh what a night” – Saturday night last was a night to remember for Kilbehenny Cycling Club. ‘The Gathering’ was held in Dan Caseys – but not Dan Caseys as we used to know it, this was a 5 star venue, the entire bar was transformed and dressed in beautifully laid out tables, with china at our fingertips to dine with. The atmosphere was that of a fine hotel with beautiful piano music as we entered.
The food served was high class. There were over 70 people seated for the event. All this, was thanks to Mary at Dan Caseys and her team of highly professional waiters, waitresses and cooks. There was one waiter, hmmmmmm - Manuel, he was a charmer, well dressed, chefs hat, good communication skills, in high demand, maybe a wee bit wobbly but other than that, he would be good to hire – he would be our number one “Fan”. Music on the night was provided by Anton and accompanied by beautiful singers and musicians.
Overall, it was a great night and it ticked all the boxes, thanks to Mary at Dan Caseys and her team, Anton and his team and of course the members of the club who really pulled out all the stops to make this event special (especially our secretary, Eileen) and thanks to all who gave spot prizes and to Mary for an absolutely stunning designed cake which she donated to the club.
Our Wednesday evening cycle has finished for now. Sunday 9am cycle continues – however in the not so distant future we will be amending the start time to a later slot.
Our club continues to grow in many ways and we have so much to offer, new concepts on participation and involvement, new cycle routes, training for long charity events, the list goes on. We are not scaling down this winter and we intend the Sunday morning cycles to be continuous – unless frost and bad weather prevent it. There will be updates on spinning classes etc in the coming weeks also.
For further details on our club – contact Tom 087 2683587. We always welcome new members – generally our routes are as follows: Group A - (50-100km), Group B - (30-80) and Group C - (10-30).
