Gardaí in Fermoy are urging people to comply with travel restrictions that are in place to combat Covid-19, and to ‘stay safe at home’.

In a statement, Gardaí remarked that ‘for the most part, people are complying’.

However, they went on to note: “We’re still meeting people travelling for walks and exercise, but we are urging you to respect the 2km restriction.”

“One landowner has reported to us that people continue to travel to their property to walk on their private land.

“This behaviour puts everyone at risk and increases the chances of walkers bringing the virus home,” a spokesperson remarked.

Increased presence

Continuing, the statement reaffirmed that Gardaí are out and about around Fermoy ‘and every part of the country, 24/7’, highlighting public amenities as areas of particular focus at this time.

Gardaí also asked people to report suspicious behaviour and keep an eye out on our more vulnerable neighbours.
