Like so many others, Fermoy man Paul Lillis, has enthusiastically embraced the sport of cycling and four weeks ago, he took the plunge and purchased a gent's racing bike from Jim Hennessy Cycles.

At the weekend he was part of a fundraising cycle from Fermoy to Glanmire that helped raise funds for MS Ireland. Unfortunately, on Tuesday last, his recently acquired two wheeler was stolen from outside the Aldi store in Fermoy.

The last couple of days have been spent attempting to relocate his bike. He has got great support from the public, local businesses (who've made CCTV available) and Fermoy gardai.

Facebook has also been pressed into service and several promising leads have come from that source. Given that The Avondhu promotes the activities of several cycle clubs, Paul is hoping that readers may be able to assist in tracking down his bike.

"The bike was stolen at around 3.15pm on Tuesday (12th August) from outside Aldi in Fermoy, an individual was seen taking it and we understand that he turned right after leaving the car park and headed out the Dublin road," Paul told The Avondhu this week. He went on to describe the bike as a FORME racing model, mainly white with distinctive red markings on the front forks, it also had a speedometer fitted.

Paul is very anxious to have his bike back and would welcome any information on its whereabouts, his contact number is 086-0683012 - a reward is also being offered!
