As lead consultant for the €215 million Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme, multi award-winning civil and environmental engineering, scientific and planning consultancy, Fehily Timoney & Co, has been presented with the Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland (ACEI) Engineering Excellence Awards Project of the Year 2025.

Headquartered on Cork’s Pouladuff Road, the company worked on the project as lead designer, as well as subconsultants Ramboll UK and Clandillon Civil Consulting Ltd, on a project that has transformed and future-proofed the transport infrastructure in Cork city and the surrounding hinterland, alleviating congestion where four national roads meet, improving safety and streamlining traffic flow for the region’s residents, businesses and through traffic.

Employing over 100 members of staff, including engineers, scientists, town planners, geotechnicians, ecologists and technical support staff across offices in Cork, Dublin and Carlow, it’s the second win in quick succession for the company.

In December, the British Geotechnical Association awarded the coveted Fleming Award to Fehily Timoney and Company and its project partners for addressing significant geotechnical challenges, also on Cork’s Dunkettle Interchange Upgrade Scheme.

Speaking after the latest award win, Sinéad Timoney, Fehily Timoney and Company MD, said it was ‘a fantastic achievement’.
