‘From Kilfinane to Tiblisi and not one puncture’

Away for over 8 weeks, Kilfinane’s Martin Hennessy covered 5,750km – from Kilfinane to Tblisi – raising money for Cliona’s Foundation.

"From Kilfinane to Tiblisi and not one puncture". These are the words of Martin Hennessy of Kilfinane Athletic Club who arrived back home late last Tuesday night after an epic adventure, a cycle from Kilfinane to Tiblisi and then an ultramarathon in China.

He was away for over 8 weeks, covering 5,750km in total, raising money for Cliona’s Foundation in the process – an organisation that provides financial assistance to families from Ireland who have children undergoing long-term medical treatment for critical illness. Speaking to the Avondhu Martin said he thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.

“It went off very well and the bike was fine. I cycled from Kilfinane to Rosslare, got the boat from there to Cherbourg and cycled through France, Germany, Austria, Hungry, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and onto Tbilisi, Georgia ..."
