The developer of the Dun Eala estate in Fermoy is committed to finishing the snag list and having the council take the estate in charge, members of the Fermoy Electoral Area committee were firmly assured at their monthly meeting on Tuesday afternoon.
Cllr Frank O’Flynn had tabled a motion that Cork County Council call on the developer to carry out the outstanding works and if they weren’t completed within a set period of time, that the council revoke the bond of €37,000 and arrange to have the work carried out on behalf of residents.
Senior council engineer Brendan O’Gorman, said he’d been informed by the council’s estates manager John Aherne, that the developer is addressing the issue of a retaining wall at present, preparing a planning application for retention. After that he will complete what is a very small snag list, the engineer said.
Cllr O’Flynn insisted however that his motion be conveyed to the estates engineer. He asked if the application to the council for taking-in-charge had been made yet and was told it hadn’t. “I hope by the next meeting there will be progress,” he commented.
Cllr Noel McCarthy said he was confident it would be done and he wasn’t in favour of writing to the estate manager while discussions are taking place between the council and the developer as there is a committment from the latter to do the work.
The engineer promised to give them an update at their next meeting.
