In the aftermath of Shanballymore’s greatest sporting hour, what better time to turn the focus on some of the club’s youngest players.

Shanballymore juvenile players, together with their families and supporters held a very enjoyable function in the local community hall recently. Young, talented and enthusiastic, these individuals are the future of Shanballymore GAA.

The occasion was also an opportunity to unveil the new club tops that these players really enjoy wearing. MC for the event was former Shanballymore hurler, Dave Twomey.

Dave is widely respected in GAA circles and thanks to a positive attitude and lots of patience, he has built up an excellent rapport with these well behaved children.

Members of the club’s all-conquering junior B hurlers were also in attendance. In his address, club captain, Brian O’Reilly, encouraged young players to work on their skills, build up fitness levels, listen to coaches and encourage each other on and off the field.

Brian and his team mates brought along the impressive haul of silverware that they’ve amassed in hurling and football during the 2015/16 season.

Refreshments were served and lots of photographs taken – all in all, a productive and uplifting exercise that augurs well for the future of Gaelic games in Shanballymore.
