Fire safety inspection for Abbeyville House

Cork County Council has arranged for a fire safety inspection to be carried out at Abbeyville House in Fermoy, which is currently providing temporary emergency accommodation for families, with over 50 international protection applicants currently living there.

On Tuesday, members of the 'Save Abbeyville House' group met at Fermoy Town Park, expressing concern regarding fire safety at the premises, as recent correspondence from the council, received by the group, stated that despite a briefing document issued in February stating that a fire certificate was in place, 'this was not the case'.
