Fire brigade fights fire at toll booth

The Fire Brigade based at Ballyvolane on Cork city’s northside responded to the incident in which the car had come to a stop and burst into flames at the site on the M8 motorway. 

It is understood that it was on the northbound route heading in the direction of Rathcormac. Fire fighters successfully brought the blaze under control and reopened the road.  

Motorists had been warned to be cautious as they drove in the area during the incident at 7pm on Tuesday evening.

The Cork City Fire Brigade had issued a warning: “Ballyvolane have extinguished a vehicle fire near the M8 toll booth, Northbound. Please use caution on approach.”
