Fire at well-known Fermoy bar

The scene on MacCurtain Street early Thursday morning, with emergency services dealing with a fire in Charlie Mac's Bar.

Units from the local emergency services rushed to Charlie Mac's Bar on MacCurtain Street, Fermoy early this morning, Thursday, January 2nd.

A fire broke out at the premises and the building has been evacuated.

It is understood that the fire broke out in the very early hours on Thursday, January 2 and by 8am, smoke was still seen coming from the doors and windows of the lower floors. 

By 9am, emergency services remained on the scene, ensuring that the fire was extinguished and carrying out any necessary safety checks. 

One lane of traffic was closed off, coming southbound through the town, as emergency services continued to deal with the incident
