Conditions were very favourable for last Sunday morning's fundraising cycle in Anglesboro. Hosted by Anglesboro Cycling Club, the event was a fundraiser for Anglesboro Tidy Towns, whose work is plain to be seen throughout the village.
All abilities were catered for with participants having a choice of 10km, 40km or 80km. The cycle was well organised with every effort taken to ensure the safety of those taking part. Roche's Cycles in Mitchelstown were in attendance to carry out some fine tuning to the bikes and for this, organisers are most grateful. After everyone was registered and instructions issued, it was left to local piper, Dinny Slattery to produce a suitably rousing tune before the various groups were dispatched.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Chairperson of Anglesboro Tidy Towns, Mary Gordon said the cycle was an important source of income for the Tidy Towns committee. "This is a very important fundraiser for us, thankfully, we've been very fortunate with the weather and it's great to see such a large crowd, the Tidy Towns committee really appreciates the support of Anglesboro Cycling Club and everyone who helps make the day possible" she said.
Following completion of the various routes, refreshments were served in Anglesboro Community Centre - again, well done to the helpers.
We've been asked to highlight another cycle which takes place on Saturday, 26th April - interested individuals are asked to assemble at Skeheenarinky National School from 8.30am onwards.
