With 5 busy and eventful years of public representation behind her, Cllr. Marie Murphy, a Fine Gael candidate for the Clonmel/Cahir Electoral Area, is hoping to be returned come May 23rd.

Speaking at her campaign launch in Nedeen's Bar, Clogheen last Saturday night, March 8th, Marie placed considerable emphasis on her decision to be a full-time county councillor.

FULL TIME COMMITMENT

"Having got a very strong mandate I think it was the right decision, the work load is considerable and to be able to do the job justice I felt I had to do it full time. I've been active on a whole range of issues and in every instance I've done my very best for constituents" she said.

Special guest, MEP Sean Kelly acknowledged Marie's energy and work ethic. Tom Hayes T.D., running mate, Cllr Joe Leahy and good friend, Kay Dawson (a FG candidate for the Fermoy Electoral Area), were also in attendance along with a very wide circle of relatives, neighbours and supporters. MC for the evening was another close acquaintance, Mary O'Callaghan from Mitchelstown. Mary said Marie was an outstanding candidate.

"Marie has worked extremely hard since being elected and is a tireless advocate for her area, everyone is very positive about the forthcoming campaign and she's assembled a very strong team behind her," Mary said.
