Batavia Furniture are based in Fermoy for the last 16 years, showcasing an impressive and wide-ranging collection of furniture and gifts, making it the ideal place to shop, especially ahead of the upcoming festive period.
Batavia was founded in 1999 when owners Noel and Majella O’Regan returned home from Indonesia, where their manufacturing business is based, employing around 150 skilled workers.
The store reopened in May after extensive upgrade to the interior and displays. The showroom boasts an impressive collection of international products and ranges exclusive to Batavia, in addition to their bespoke manufacturing service, where they will design and make products specifically for you.
They work with a range of quality hardwoods without the use of any MDF or plywood. Their products are handmade and hand finished.
CERTIFIED SOURCES
Batavia’s manufacturing company is an SVLK certified company, meaning that under the New European Timber Directive they are licensed to export to the European Market. This ensures the customer that all their timber comes from certified legal sources and each consignment comes with its own v-legal certification.
This isn’t just about the legality of timber, it stretches right down to the environmental impact of the factories, the recycling, the disposal of waste, dust pollution, noise pollution, the social care for the workers, health and safety and more.
Batavia selects and purchases their logs from both certified government and community forest sources. They mill and dry the timber at their own ovens, working with the timber they use in their products from tree stage, to when it arrives in your home.
Batavia pride themselves in having achieved a seamless vertically integrated operation in the sense of manufacturing and retail.
As well as having its retail business in Fermoy, employing three people, Batavia are very much present in the wholesale market in the United Kingdom, where they will shortly be launching 35 new products at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. Their new in-house designed retro range will be coming shortly to Fermoy
In store, customers will be met with a plethora of furniture options for the whole house, complete with a large range of Christmas-themed gifts, home accessories and gifts for all occasions.
