The entire membership of the Sinn Féin cumann in Fermoy have resigned from the party following the expulsion of one of its councillors and the year-long suspension of another.

At an emergency meeting of the Sinn Féin branch on Tuesday night, called to discuss the expulsion of Cobh-based Cllr Kieran McCarthy and the suspension of Mallow-based Cllr Melissa Mullane, the officer board and the general membership put forward their resignation.
