Fermoy Lionesses played Shannon/Nenagh in a league match on Sunday. On a damp day Fermoy started very strong with the forwards applying pressure, the ball went out the backs who made great ground.
As the pressure increased, Fermoy got a penalty Nóirín McHugh tapped and went scoring the try, Joette Gallagher kicked a great conversion. The game was well balanced and Shannon/Nenagh scored a penalty.
Shannon/Nenagh continued to apply pressure and managed after a long period of great defence to score a try. The half-time score was Shannon/Nenagh 8 Fermoy 7.
Both teams put applyied great pressure in the second half but it was the defences that won out. The final score was Shannon/Nenagh 8 Fermoy 7. Our next game is Sunday against Thurles.

Fermoy Mini Rugby
The U8s travelled to Tipperary Town last Sunday for a blitz. Clanwilliam RFC welcomed our players with a busy morning of rugby and there were plenty of tired and muddy children after two heavy games.
First game was against Clanwilliam, the team worked well together with great defensive tackles and engaged in strong mauls and rucks.
The second game was tough against Nenagh. Great runs by Cathal, Jamie and Cian. Patrick and Lucy did some great defensive tackles. Cormac, PJ and Micheal engaged on some strong drives in the mauls. Eight tries in total were scored over the two games and all eight players were involved in all the tries.
A big thanks to all the coaches and parents that gave up a Sunday morning to travel and well done players. Ye did fantastic!!
Team: Cathal McCarthy, Jamie Dorgan, Cian O’Callaghan, Patrick Riordan, Lucy Powell, Cormac Murphy, PJ Powell and Micheal O’Donovan.
Leprauchans shine in Clanwilliam
Grey skies and blustering wind but mild and relatively dry conditions characterised Fermoy Leprechauns (U7) trip to Clanwilliam RFC in Tipperary Town on Sunday last, 24th January. In all, three teams came together for an organised blitz, Fermoy, Nenagh and hosts Clanwilliam.
Fermoy took on Clanwilliam first in an action-packed affair which saw both sides seeking open spaces and demonstrating good support play, capped off by some fine scores.
A very well-drilled Nenagh proved a tougher prospect though, putting Fermoy to the pins of their respective collars as they sought to find a way through for scores. Sidestepping and taking incisive lines were the order of the day for both sides seeking to break the tactical deadlock.
Proceedings were brought to a sporting conclusion with teams engaging in the customary ‘shake hands’, followed by a very generous spread of refreshments provided by a most hospitable Clanwilliam. A grand day out was indeed had by all.
Fermoy Leprechauns were: Daniel T. Fitzgerald, Danny Kenneally, Dylan Aherne, Adam Collins, John Noonan, Nathan Tobin, Kevin Reidy and Louis Carroll.
New mini’s players always welcome – training Wednesday 7-8pm and Saturdays.
