The Christmas classic, ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens, will be plucked out of the pages of the library books and brought to life with a performance of scenes in Fermoy Library on Thursday, December 19, at 11am.

The performance will be done by the Classic Times Theatre Company, who earlier this year, brought a very successful performance of Jane Austen’s works to the library, so this promises to be another great event.

Written in 1843, ‘A Christmas Carol’ remains a timeless classic and one of the best loved Christmas stories of all time. The themes of redemption, love and the novel’s exploration of a humane approach to helping those in poverty were never so relevant than in these current times.

This production by Classic Times Theatre is an hour long adaptation of the novel and includes the eight most dramatic scenes in the novel. Audiences will be both repelled and intrigued by the cruel, heartless Ebenezer Scrooge, charmed by his good spirited nephew Fred, touched by the good natured and long suffering Bob Cratchit and entertained by various ghostly visitors.
