Fermoy Library prepares for Heritage Week

Fermoy library is planning to host an exciting range of events at the end of this month as part of their celebration of Heritage Week.

Fermoy library is planning to host an exciting range of events at the end of this month as part of their celebration of Heritage Week.

The event, which will take place from August 23-31, will include an exhibition by Fermoy Camera Club of historical photographs of the town.

One of the highlights of the week will be Michael Twomey’s presentation of ‘John B. and Me’ on Wednesday, August 27 at 11.30am.

During this talk, Michael will recall the works of John B. Keane and the part the works of one of Ireland’s most outstanding playwrights of modern times played in his own theatrical career.

He will also recall the remarkable life of John B. Keane, and Keane’s plays which were premièred through Theatre of the South and directed by Dan Donovan.

This event is free of charge and open to all members of the public, but due to limited spaces the library will be taking names of those interested in attending.

Fermoy Library are also extending their opening hours this month, with their full hours now being 9.30am-1pm and 2pm-5.30pm on Tuesday to Saturday.

Tom Leahy’s exhibition will also run throughout the month and is available to view during opening hours, while the library’s summer reading scheme for children continues.
