Plans are well underway for a special festival to be held in Fermoy from Friday, July 26th to Sunday, July 28th. Avondhu Tourism and Fermoy Business Action Group have combined forces to organise the weekend festival.

The theme is The Gathering and events for all the family will be staged over the weekend. It is intended that people who travel home for that weekend will have lots to do. On the Saturday, the river will be the main focus – many people believe the river is the town’s greatest asset. The festival will show it off to best advantage.  Allied to that, there will be music along the quays. The final line-up of bands will be announced over the coming weeks.

The Sunday evening will see the return of the very popular ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic ‘ to the town park. The family oriented event is geared towards people meeting and gathering in the town park – another of the town’s fine amenities. Again, the line-up of music events is still to be confirmed.

There will be a range of other activities over the weekend such as heritage tours of the area, genealogy talks for those interested, pub music and good old-fashioned craic. Watch this space!
