The progress of the Fermoy flood relief works was praised at a meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area, as Ger Barry of Lagan Construction gave a comprehensive overview of works to the councillors.

Members were advised that temporary works on the fish pass were due to start this week.

The works at the bridge have also been completed and the remaining steel plates, which help the concrete to cure, will be removed next week, putting an end to the works there.

Water main works near the community hospital are also ongoing and the water main will be tested shortly and the work commissioned within two weeks.

The report was welcomed by Cllr Frank O’Flynn who commended them for being on time with work on the bridge, while Cllr Noel McCarthy complimented them on a job well done so far, and he also commended the good timeline achieved on the bridge work.
