Fermoy Community Hospital has recently received a donation of framed photographs from Fermoy Camera Club as part of an exercise to brighten up the main reception area.

The initial ten framed pictures, which are of landmarks within Fermoy and the hospital’s surrounding catchment area, were selected from around 80 photos provided by members of the camera club.

Speaking at the official unveiling, hospital Matron, Annette Clancy, said “As well as having an inviting area for our visitors we wanted to create a space that our residents and staff could also enjoy. We now hold regular residents events here which are facilitated through the Fermoy Community Hospitals Activity Programme, with piano music, singing and storytelling. The photographs add greatly to the overall atmosphere and helps to generate conversation & facilitates some reminisce.

"The intention, in due course, is to add to these photos and create a photographic journey, starting with the hospital and Fermoy and moving outwards to cover some of the hospital’s other catchment areas. I would like to thank the members of Fermoy Camera Club for their very kind support and especially to Billy Chambers and Lee Fox for their assistance in helping throughout the process”.

Speaking on behalf of the members of Fermoy Camera Club, Lee Fox added, “We are delighted to have been able to help out in this very worthwhile project. During a recent afternoon visit it was fantastic to see the reception full with residents all sat around the candlelit fireplace enjoying some beautiful songs. It really brought home Annette’s vision. As a club we feel it is very important to help out our local community and we are proud to have played a part in this”.
