The Buachaills have been rising to fame in recent months and the Fermoy band are now set to launch their debut album this coming Sunday night in Cheers Bar, Fermoy.
Eoin Murphy spoke to The Avondhu about their rollercoaster journey so far and how it brought them to release their own version of 'The Boys of Fairhill' ahead of the All-Ireland final.
The video already has more than 2,000 views on YouTube and has been endorsed by Cork GAA.
"We just released it this week and it's gone crazy. We will officially launch it on Sunday in Cheers and it's a modernised version of the well known song," Eoin said.
The lads have had a strong GAA presence since they performed at the All-Ireland final last year and this year, they performed at the start of Cork's campaign, so the connection between The Buachaills and the GAA scene has been very strong.
"Since the All-Ireland things have gone crazy for us. We are still playing the pub scene, but we are doing more festivals. We did Kilworth on Sunday, we did Clonmel and we'll be going to Timoleague. We are getting a lot more radio play and we hope to release our new album next year," and excited Eoin told The Avondhu.
Eoin also revealed that while the album is practically finished, they are in talks with a couple of labels in the hopes of signing the band. He also told The Avondhu that there will be a mixture of favourites that people know and originals that fans might not have heard on the album.
As with all of their music, they try to put their own stamps on things and keep songs within the traditional mould while giving them a modern twist.
The launch will take place on Sunday with Sarah Barry doing a guest performance at 7pm in Cheers followed by The Buachaills at 9pm. The single will be available on the night and also in Fiona Turley's Gallery Crafts (Kilworth), in Cheers, on CD Baby and on ITunes.
