This year's arts festival in Fermoy proved to be a great success. It generated a lot of interest locally and acted as a showcase for the town's many creative individuals.

Festival organisers wanted proceeds to go to a deserving cause and few could argue with their choice - COPE, Fermoy.

The festival committee were in Fermoy Pitch & Putt Club on Friday night, March 7, to present the money (€2,626.85) to COPE, Fermoy representatives.

The cheque was formally accepted by COPE treasurer, Denis Crowley. Denis said the funding was most welcome and he thanked the festival committee for their generosity.

For her part, Town Mayor and the driving force behind the festival, Cllr Olive Corcoran said all the hard work had paid off and that reaction to the festival was very positive.

"There was a lot of goodwill towards the festival and the people of Fermoy didn't leave us down, we were delighted to raise over €2,000 and equally delighted to be here tonight handing it over the COPE, who do exceptional work with those with special needs" Olive said.
