The Avondhu can confirm this week that the new extension to Coláiste an Chraoibhín, Fermoy will be opening in the coming weeks.
This comes after months of delays and amid fears that the delays were related to the recent collapse of UK construction company Carillion who are responsible for the design, build, finance and maintenance of a number of schools around the country.
The fears re Carillion are unfounded as contractors – Sammon Group – has no association with the UK-based company. This was confirmed to The Avondhu this week by a spokesperson for the company.
A spokesperson for Sammon Group said: “We’re proud of our work on the extension of the school, meeting all technical and specification requirements to the highest standards."
