Farrell’s SuperValu in Mitchelstown was a hive of activity last weekend with the official opening of their new look store.

The official opening and blessing was performed by Canon Michael Fitzgerald shortly after 11am on the Friday after which customers readily joined in the celebrations.

Prior to the cutting of the ribbon, Canon Fitzgerald told those in attendance that he wished the Farrell family every success with the store and that he wished the customers lots of good bargains.

Sean Farrell then thanked the Canon and customers saying that the family’s intention was to deliver a high quality store which Mitchelstown deserves and could be proud off. He went on to thank those involved in the building of the shop and all who helped including his family, staff and management.

After the cutting of the ribbon the celebrations began with DJ Justin Finn providing the hits. There was also face painting for children courtesy of Heather Coleman, Sandra Furey and Katie Lenihan.

Cork hurlers Anthony Nash and Patrick Horgan were in store from noon and there were plenty of nibbles and refreshments on offer throughout the afternoon.

The celebrations continued on the Saturday with a family fun day with spot prizes, fun activities and entertainment including special guests Elsa and Olaf from Disney’s Frozen.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Sean Farrell said he would once again like to thank customers for their patience in recent weeks while improvements to the store were being made.

“The team at Farrell’s SuperValu in Mitchelstown are committed to quality and serving our customers the best in fresh and local food in our new look store”.
