On Thursday, 16th January in the Fermoy Youth Centre at 8pm the Blackwater Triathlon Club hosted an evening of motivational speaking. The evening was a great success with every seat in the house filled. We would like to thank everyone who took time out to attend the event.

It was especially pleasing to see the evening supported by not only our own members, but also by so representatives of the many other sports clubs in Fermoy. Amongst those present were members of the local athletic, swimming, rowing, cycling, rugby, soccer, GAA and sub aqua clubs. This was a testament to the popularity of our speakers Katie Cooke, Jean Daly and Owen O'Keeffe, all of whom spoke eloquently of the various challenges they have faced to get where they are today.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and we hope that the stories of these three remarkable people will help to inspire everybody present to achieve their own training goals for 2014.

NEW MEMBERS

We welcome new members at any time. You don’t have to be an elite athlete to take part in triathlons. While for some people it’s about the competition for others it’s just about taking part and having fun. It’s also a great way to meet people with similar interests and abilities. So if you’re feeling like a new challenge for 2014 contact us and before you know it you’ll be able to call yourself a triathlete.

We will be organising a series of duathlons in run and cycle events, in the near future. These are a chance for experienced triathletes to focus their training for the New Year and an ideal opportunity for beginners to try some of the triathlon disciplines.

For further information see the club website of Facebook page or contact Niamh Fleming at niamhfleming123@gmail.com or 087-9814035.
