There was a full house at Ballyhooly community centre on Sunday last for the annual senior citizens party. What used to be their Christmas party was changed three years ago to January and the move went down well.
"There's enough going on at Christmas time and it's something to look forward to in January," said Mai O'Riordan, one of the organising group.
One thing that hasn't changed though is the traditional fare offered - turkey and ham and all the trimmings, with homemade soup beforehand and dessert to finish.
"We changed the start time from 6pm to 4pm and people like it better," Mai reported. After dinner, all present enjoyed a musical evening provided by Brian Lynch. "It went very well, it was a grand evening," Mai said.
