Eight burglaries have taken place around the area in the past two weeks. Gardai believe at least three of the incidents may be linked. The first, on Thursday, July 25th, happened at Old Castletown, Kildorrery. A window was forced and car keys taken in the daytime break-in. The car subsequently stolen from the driveway, a silver Renault Scenic, hasn’t yet been recovered. It’s registration number is 05 C 28385.

On Tuesday, July 30th at Emmet Street in Fermoy, a home was broken into shortly after 10am while the owner was out of the house for a short period. A window was forced there also to get in and internal doors were forced to gain further entry. Jewellery and a small sum of cash were taken.

On the same day, between 11.30am and 12.3pm, a house in Liam Lynch Park in Mitchelstown was also burgled. A back window was forced there and a sum of cash taken from an upstairs bedroom.

A patio door at the rear of a house in Knockrour, Kilbehenny was smashed at 12.30pm on the same day but nothing was taken in that break-in. A dark coloured small car, reported as possibly having an 02 C registration and being a Toyota, Peugeot or Mitsubishi, was spotted acting suspiciously in the area around the time. Anyone who may have seen it in the area is asked to contact Gardai in Fermoy.

Two houses were also broken into while their owners were away. The first break-in occurred at Strawhall, Fermoy sometime between July 28th and the 31st. A back bedroom window was forced open and property taken. Sometime between July 26th and August 2nd a house on the Pike Road in Fermoy was broken into. Gardai are investigating all of the incidents.
