The latest recycling project organised by WEEE Ireland on behalf of the local authority (Cork County Council) took place in Fermoy town centre last Saturday.

The day long scheme allowed for the collection and transport of all electrical appliances and batteries.

In keeping with past practice WEEE Ireland personnel oversaw the collection, sorting and removal of electrical goods from a depot at The Old Mart Yard.

The initiative was wholeheartedly supported by the public who ensured there was no shortage of raw material. For locals, it represented an opportunity to clear their dwellings and garages of unwanted appliances.

All items deposited were removed from the depot for further processing and recycling.

The public are reminded to be alert for further collection days which Cork County Council will publicly advertise.
