There was a disappointing turnout of clubs for last Friday night's East Cork Scór na nÓg finals in Lisgoold Community Centre. However, fair play to all the competitors, they put their best foot forward and performed very well in a variety of disciplines.

Watergrasshill, who have an excellent track record in dancing competitons, duly obliged with victory in the rince fóirne going their way. Aghada, through the efforts of Christine Moran, won the amhránaíocht aonair (solo singing). Youghal won the instrumental music category, with Laura Whelan taking the trophy for her recitation.

Several quiz teams made themselves available to compete, but in the absence of a quiz master it was decided to defer this part of the programme. MC for the event, County Board Cultural Officer, Kieran McGann, did well in difficult circumstances and hopefully with a bit of fine tuning, things can be put back on track again.

We're starting to move into the busy end of the Scor season with the county finals down for decision in Ovens on Sunday, 15th December at 4pm. The All-Ireland finals of Scór na nÓg take place on Saturday, 1st March, 2014 in Castlebar.
