The local community of Dungourney hosted a ‘welcome day’ on Saturday to welcome the arrival of the first barrels of whiskey to Irish Distillers' new Dungourney Warehousing facility.

The facility, which has recently had a €100 million investment by Irish Distillers, owners of Jameson, saw the first barrels of whiskey arrive from the Midleton Distillery at 11am, where they were welcomed by the local community who organised a ‘welcome party’ at Dungourney Community Hall.

A ‘Distilling Welcoming Committee’ welcomed the arrival with music, activities and light refreshments for all guests. There was also a brief presentation from the committee to Tommy Keane, the general manager of Midleton Distilleries.
